Paraworld on CG Society

CG Society
“Peeking into Paraworld with the artists of Pendulum, Part 3″ has finally been posted on CG Society so be sure and check it out. The animation section of the artcle includes a behind the scenes video with myself and Emil Bidiuc. You must be a registered member to view them, so for my friend’s or family member’s that aren’t I’ll let you borrow mine (:

This was a huge project to work on, especially for only two animators fresh out of school. It was an amazing learning experience and has made my confidence as an animator even stronger.

Keith Lango “Do Me a Favor…”

Keith Lango has just posted another great tutorial on his website titled “Do Me A Favor: Favors, Eases, and other Mysteries of Space.” It gives excellent examples and definitions of the differences between timing and spacing, and what it means to ease in and out of a pose or to favor one pose or another.

Gallerie Abomin8

For a collection of some of the most… interesting CG on the web, check out the Gallerie Abomin8 (I can’t actually spell out “abomin…” because spam bots automatically leave porn comments).

Tips for Animators

Just a little word of advice for Maya animators. It’s a good idea to pick-walk up to the nearest joint when animating. Remember that the controls you have setup are only to make it easier to select the part to animate. So when you select the curve, you need to pick-walk up a few times (more then once just to make sure you get it) and then you can begin animation. The curve is only there for ease of selection of what really needs to be animated.

I know that this is hard to remember, here’s a few rhymes that may make it easier:

Pick-walk, pick-walk,
One, two, three..
Pose that limb,
Now set a key…

Select that curve,
Pick-walk up,
Now you’re ready,
To tear it up.

Control selected,
Joint neglected…
pick-walk up,
Selection corrected.

The TD’s will love you if you keep these in mind, I’ll post more as they come to me.

Hoof Arted!

Found this animation the other day that I did as my first attempt at Lip Sync, back in 2002. My Freshman Year in College. Pretty annoying, terrible animation, but at the time people told me I had a decent idea of comic timing. For some reason when I upload Divx to YouTube the sound is always off. Maybe Google will fix it for me.

Isaiah 58:13,14

Hope everyone had a happy Sabbath! Isaiah 58:13,14 is something I like to think about each Friday before sundown. It says:

“If you watch your step on the Sabbath and don’t use my holy day for personal advantage, If you treat the Sabbath as a day of joy, God’s holy day as a celebration, If you honor it by refusing business as usual, making money, running here and there–Then you’ll be free to enjoy God! And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
-The Message

NIVKJVNKJVNASB

The more I reflect on this verse the more I try to look at the motive of my actions on the Sabbath. Am I doing this for selfish reasons or am I trying to know God’s character? Feel free to post your thoughts.

Intelligent Pants 0.99 (Beta)

Welcome to the new and improved Intelligent Pants website, Version .99. As you can see it is still in beta, so things may not work or appear as they would in Intelligent Pants Version 1.0 (Sketches, Illustrations). Still, it is here for your viewing pleasure. I’d like to setup a few ground rules before you go rummaging through my site.

1. Absolutely NO Stealing of any kind. That means you Aaron.
2. If you are using IE, you are not allowed on my website.
3. Do not view sketches or animations unless you’ve already decided that they are fantastic.
4. You must leave a comment declaring how fantastic everything is, be descriptive.
5. If you only decide to follow one rule on this site, it must be rule #4.

That’s about it! Enjoy!
